Friday, June 04, 2010 - Sunday, June 06, 2010 Sibling Camp This special camp is for patient’s siblings, ages 6-18. Sorry, no patients or parents. Camp SAM recognizes the importance of providing activities for the entire family. Siblings sometimes feel forgotten and alone when their sick brother or sister is receiving most of the attention due to their treatment. Sibling Camp gives them a chance to experience Camp SAM on their own, get some well-needed attention and have fun in the process.

Monday, June 07, 2010 - Saturday, June 12, 2010 Youth Camp This is a week-long camp session available for children, ages 6-12, who are on and off therapy for cancer. Sorry, no parents or siblings. Campers are assigned to cabin counselors who care for them in cabins and assist them in their activties. Campers participate in activities such as arts & crafts, fishing, boating, archery, cooking, canoeing and simply being kids. |

Friday, July 09, 2010 - Sunday, July 11, 2010 Jr/Sr Weekend Camp This new weekend program will be for the enrolling High School junior and seniors the following fall or seniors that have just graduated. This weekend camp will take the place of attending weeklong teen camp in the summer for this age group. This fun and recreational weekend for on and off therapy patients will also have an educational component helping to prepare these teens for High School graduation, college life and life after cancer as a survivor. Our goal for this session is to help instill independence and responsibility in regards to their diagnosis as these young patients and survivors grow into young adults. |

Monday, July 12, 2010 - Saturday, July 17, 2010 Teen Camp This is a week-long camp session available for teens, ages 13-16, who are on and off therapy for cancer. Sorry, no parents or siblings. campers are assigned to cabin counselors who assist them in the cabin as well as in activities. Campers participate in various activities such as swimming, snorkeling, roasting marshmallows and making new friends in the process. |

Friday, August 06, 2010 - Sunday, August 08, 2010 Young Adult Retreat This educational weekend is for childhood cancer survivors in the 19-30’s age group. Survivors learn about long term survivorship issues, hear special speakers on the topics of health insurance, singleness, time management, independent living, jobs/careers, choosing healthy living lifestyles through diet and exercise and more. There are different topics each year. The survivors also enjoy many wonderful camp activities such as arts and crafts, boating, canoeing, fishing and swimming. Participants do not have to be former campers at Camp SAM to attend. |

Friday, August 20, 2010 - Sunday, August 22, 2010 Off Therapy Family Camp Off therapy patients, up to age 18 years old, are eligible to attend this camp session. This is offered to any immediate families whose child has been off treatment for any length of time. The weekend’s activities will mirror family camp activities. In addition, a parent panel discussion is held with medical staff and childhood cancer survivors in their 20’s. Parents are able to ask the survivors questions in regards to issues they are now facing as a survivor and what they know now and wished they had known when they were first off therapy. Children must be accompanied by at least one of their parents throughout the weekend. Brothers and sisters up to 18 years old are allowed to attend. |

Friday, September 17, 2010 - Sunday, September 19, 2010 Fall Family Camp This special weekend is for on therapy patients, up to 18 years old and their families. Families faced with similar circumstances can interact in a relaxed atmosphere and share their experiences of living with cancer. In addition, a parent panel discussion is held between off therapy parents and on therapy parents to give guidance as they deal with the realities of childhood cancer. Children must be accompanied by at least one of their parents throughout the weekend Patients and siblings, ages 5 and older are assigned to volunteer counselors who assist them at their activities and stay in the cabin with them. Patients and siblings age 4 and under are housed in a private room with their parent(s) and are also assigned to a volunteer counselor. Other parents are housed in a separate cabin from their children. |
