Executive Director - Bruce Hooper
Bruce joined Camp SAM full-time in 2011 after having served a five-year term on the Board of Directors from 2006 through 2010. During his Board term, Bruce was on the Executive Committee of Camp SAM from 2006 to 2009 serving as Treasurer in 2006 and 2007 and as Board President in 2008.Bruce is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional. Prior to joining Camp SAM, he was in public accounting for eight years, CFO of a construction company for fourteen years and most recently was Vice President for a regional insurance agency. Given his involvement with Camp SAM at various levels, Bruce has a strong understanding and passion for the mission of Camp SAM and a commitment and dedication to the children and families served.
Program Director - Jennifer Amundsen
Jennifer has been a part of the Camp SAM staff since 1995. She has a degree in Family and Child Development from Auburn University. She is responsible for planning both weeklong camps, Jr/Sr Weekend Camp and Young Adult Retreat. Jennifer is also involved in recruiting, interviewing and training volunteers for all the camp sessions. Over the years, Jennifer has served numerous terms on the Children's Oncology Camping Association-International (COCA-I) Board of Directors as Secretary and Member At Large positions. As Member at Large, she has lead the Conference Planning Committee for two years planning the Association's Annual Conference throughout the US and Canada. Today, Jennifer continues to serve as a member to the Conference Planning Committee as the past Member At Large Board Member. In 2013, Jennifer was awarded the Spirit of COCA-I Award. This award is presented to one individual from a member camp who exemplifies the values of COCA-I by providing a meaningful camping and program experience for children affected by childhood cancers. Development Director - Savannah Lanier
Savannah joined the Camp SAM staff in 2012 after serving on the Junior Board of Directors. One of her loved ones inspired her to get involved. He is a childhood cancer survivor, and spent many years of his youth as a camper and now is part of the Young Adult Program. Savannah realized what an impact Camp SAM's programming had on him and his family. She decided to use her background in development to help further Camp SAM's mission.
Family Outreach Director - Kellie Reece
Kellie joined the Camp SAM staff in the spring of 2013 after volunteering at camp for more than 15 years! She is responsible for the Hospital Outreach Program (HOP), On-Therapy Family Camp, Off-Therapy Family Camp, Sibling Camp and other year round programming. Her background in education, longtime involvement at Camp SAM and boundless energy make her a perfect addition to the team.
Assistant Program Director - Madison Monday
Madison joined the Camp SAM staff in the spring of 2014. She interned in the summer of 2013 and has been volunteering with Camp SAM for three years. Madison has a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from The University of Alabama. She is a certified Child Life Specialist. Madison has a heart for Camp SAM and the children we serve. She is excited to use her background in Child Life to help further Camp SAM's mission.
Special Events Director - Katie Langley
Katie joined the Camp SAM staff in 2015 after serving three years on the Junior Board of Directors. Katie was the Monkey C Monkey Run chair for two years. She has a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama. She is excited to grow Camp SAM's fundraisers to support our year-round programs.
