One of the ROL Cyclists 2005 wrote the most beautiful poem that I would like to share….
Ride of Love
Anonymous ROL Cyclist 2005
Above a sea of silver spokes,
Within a streak of red,
Go a group of challenged folks,
To the ride that lies ahead!
For just beyond those crooks and turns,
Lies yet another hill,
And now and then a head wind blows,
Just to test our will!
Summer sun,
Rain,
Onset fatigue,
Long hours of the day,
Hopefully will not end our quest,
For we are determined in our way!
We seem to be the gallant ones,
As we stream along the way,
But we are not the valiant ones,
For we go to where to where they stay!
For there reside great warriors,
The youngest we will know,
Within them forged the will to fight,
To whip their greatest foe!
Beside them stand their moms and dads,
The Good Lord up above,
Surrounded by great counselors,
Who provide them extra love!
AS we strive to reach our goal,
Pressing forward all the while!
We’ll soon reach this special place,
Called “Camp Smile-A-Mile”
